Friday 22th March we held an International Roundtable on Lifestyle Changes in the Energy Transition that saw participants from across the world (United States, India, Korea, Brazil, Türkiye, Tanzania, Italy, Sweden, France, Spain, Hungary, Denmark, Argentina and Germany) come together to discuss the notion of “sufficiency” in their different contexts.

Some of the opinions shared were that “sufficiency” isn’t yet an approach properly adopted by the participants’ governments but that there is room for the term to be better incorporated.

A field in which this can be seen is when talking about electricity tariffs and their subsidising as countries in the Global South share that low-income families can be assisted with targeted support to turn their households more sufficient.
